GENERAL PROVISIONS <br />SECTION 1. PURPOSE. <br />The provisions of this ordinance are enacted solely to <br />raise revenue for municipal purposes and are not intended for <br />regulation. <br />SECTION 2. DEFINITIONS. <br />For the purposes of this chapter, unless otherwise <br />apparent from the context, certain words and phrases used in this <br />chapter are defined as follows: <br />(a) "Business" shall mean and include professions, <br />trades, occupations, and all and every kind of calling, whether <br />or not carried on for profit. <br />(b) "City" shall mean the City of Colton, a municipal <br />corporation of the State, in it present incorporated form or <br />in any later reorganized consolidated, enlarged, or reincorporated <br />form. <br />(c) "Collector" shall mean the Director of Finance, <br />or other City officer charged by the City Manager with the <br />administration of the provisions hereof. <br />(d) "Gross receipts" shall mean and include the total <br />
