<br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF
<br />COLTON ADOPTING AND
<br />ESTABLISHING RULES AND
<br />REGULATIONS FOR ELEC-
<br />TRICAL INSTALLATIONS WITHIN
<br />THE CITY OF COLTON ADOP-
<br />TING THE UNIFORM WIRING
<br />CODE, 1975 EDITION, FOR THE
<br />PURPOSE OF REDUCING
<br />PERSONAL INJURY AND FIRE
<br />HAZARD FROM ELECTRICAL
<br />CAUSES; PROVIDING FOR
<br />RELATED MATTERS; AND
<br />REPEALING ORDINANCE NO.,
<br />1417.
<br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
<br />CITY OF COLTON DOES ORDAIN
<br />AS FOLLOWS:
<br />SECTION 1. This Ordinance shall
<br />be known as the "Uniform Wiring
<br />Ordinance."
<br />SECTION 2. Those certain rules
<br />and regulations which provide for
<br />electrical installations and which
<br />apply to all wiring and equipment
<br />installed, used, maintained, rented,
<br />leased, offered for sale or
<br />distributed for use, as set forth in
<br />those certain codes entitled
<br />UNIFORM WIRING CODE (1975
<br />Edition) as promulgated by the
<br />Southern California Chapter of the
<br />International Association of Elec-
<br />trical Inspectors and NATIONAL
<br />ELECTRICAL CODE (1975 Edition)
<br />as promulgated by the National Fire
<br />Protection Association are hereby
<br />adopted as rules and regulations and
<br />codes of the City of Colton. Three
<br />copies of each of the aforementioned
<br />codes are on file in the office of the
<br />City Clerk of said City and are
<br />identified by Certificates attached
<br />thereto, reading substantially as
<br />follows:
<br />"I, Helen A. Ramos, hereby
<br />certify that three (3) copies of the
<br />annexed codes entitled UNIFORM
<br />WIRING CODE (1975 Edition) and
<br />NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE
<br />(1975 Edition) are true, correct and
<br />complete copies of that certain code
<br />referred to in Ordinance No. 1479 as
<br />amended, of the City of Colton, and
<br />by said Ordinance adopted by
<br />reference and made a part thereof
<br />as fully as though set forth at length.

<br />SECTION 3. Said UNIFORM
<br />WIRING CODE is hereby amended
<br />by deleting therefrom the following
<br />sections and provisions;
<br />ARTICLES VII -XIII inclusive,
<br />XV, XVII, XX, XXI, and XXIII are
<br />hereby deleted.
<br />SECTION 4. The sections and
<br />provisions of said UNIFORM
<br />WIRING CODE are hereby
<br />amended to read as follows:
<br />10.1 Change of Name. As used in
<br />this section and elsewhere in said
<br />Code the term "Electrical Safety
<br />Engineer" shall be amended to read
<br />Building Inspection Director or his
<br />designated agent.
<br />50.1 Standards for the Installation
<br />of Electrical Equipment.
<br />Installations: All electrical in-
<br />stallations, industrial, commercial
<br />and residential, within the govern-
<br />mental jurisdiction covered by this
<br />Code shall be in conformity with the
<br />provisions of this Code, all ap-
<br />plicable State Laws, and the
<br />NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE,
<br />1975 Edition.
<br />50.4 Documents on File. Three
<br />copies of the 1975 Edition of. the
<br />NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE
<br />are on file at the Office of the City
<br />Clerk and are hereby incorporated
<br />by reference and made a part of this
<br />Code.
<br />SECTION 5. The word "City" in
<br />the aforesaid sections and Code shall
<br />be deemed to refer to and designate
<br />the City of Colton and any reference
<br />to any act or any legislative enact-
<br />ment therein referred to shall be
<br />deemed to designate and embrace
<br />the statutes of the State of
<br />California, and amendments
<br />thereof, dealing with the subject
<br />matter thereby and therein referred
<br />to.
<br />SECTION 6. It Shall be unlawful
<br />for any person, firm or corporation
<br />to install, use, maintain, alter,
<br />repair, rent, lease, offer for sale, or
<br />distribute for use, any wiring and
<br />equipment used for electrical in-
<br />stallation in said City, or cause the
<br />same to be done, contrary to or in
<br />violation of any of the provisions of
<br />these codes.
<br />Any person, firm or corporation
<br />violating or permitting or causing
<br />the violation of any of the provisions
<br />of this ordinance or of the Codes
<br />adopted herein shall be deemed
<br />guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon
<br />conviction thereof shall be
<br />punishable by a fine of not more than
<br />five hundred dollars ($500.00), or by
<br />imprisonment for a period of not
<br />more than six months, or by both
<br />such fine and imprisonment. Each
<br />person, firm or corporation shall be
<br />deemed guilty of a separate offense
<br />for each day during any portion of
<br />which any violation of any
<br />provisions of this ordinance or said
<br />Codes is committed, continued or
<br />permitted by such person, firm or
<br />corporation and shall be punishable
<br />therefore, as provided by this or
<br />dinance.
<br />SECTION 7. If any section, sub
<br />section, sentence, clause or phrase
<br />of this ordinance of said Code is for
<br />any reason held to be invalid or
<br />unconstitutional by the decision of
<br />any court of competent jurisdiction,
<br />such decision shall not affect the
<br />validity of the remaining portions of
<br />said Ordinance or Code. The Mayor
<br />and Common Council of the City of
<br />Colton hereby declare that they
<br />would have passed said Ordinance
<br />and Code, and each section, sub.
<br />section, sentence, clause and phrase
<br />thereof, irrespective of the fact that
<br />any one or more other sections,
<br />subsections, clauses or phrases be
<br />declared invalid or unconstitutional.
<br />SECTION 8. Ordinance No. 1417 is
<br />hereby repealed.
<br />SECTION 9. This ordinance shall
<br />take effect and be in force from and
<br />after its approval as required by
<br />law.
<br />SECTION 10. The City Clerk shall
<br />certify to the passage of this Or-
<br />dinance and shall cause the same to
<br />be published once in the Colton
<br />Courier, a newspaper of general
<br />circulation in the City of Colton.
