i <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1608 <br />1 AN URGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF COLTON PROVIDING FOR A VETERINARIAN'S CERTIFICATE <br />2 THAT CANINE RABIES VACCINATION MIGHT BE FATAL TO AN <br />ANI?SIAL DUE TO ITS PHYSICAL CONDITION. <br />3 <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON ORDAINS: <br />4 Section 1 <br />5 <br />Section 11 of Ordinance 1326 and Section 7.08.130 of <br />6 <br />the Colton Municipal Code is amended to read as follows: <br />7 <br />In order to protect the public health and safety all dogs <br />8 or similar type animals within the city must be vaccinated each <br />9 <br />year with canine rabies vaccine. It is unlawful for any person <br />10 <br />to own, have interest in, harbor and feed or have the care, charge, <br />11: <br />custody or possession of a dog over the age of four months unless <br />12 <br />such dog has been vaccinated with canine rabies vaccine by in - <br />13 <br />jection or other approved method by a duly qualified and licensed <br />14 <br />veterinarian or unless such a veterinarian has issued a written <br />15 <br />certificate that such a vaccination might be fatal to the animal <br />16 <br />due to its physical condition and such certificate has been filed <br />17 <br />with, and a license issued by, the City for the animal. <br />18 <br />Section 2 <br />19 <br />Section 12 of Ordinance 1326 and Section 7.08.140 of the <br />20 <br />Colton Municipal Code is amended to read as follows: <br />21 <br />No license to own or harbor a doq or similar type animal <br />22 <br />shall be issued except upon application in writing to the city, <br />23 <br />setting forth the name and address of the owner or possessor of <br />24 <br />the dog, or similar type animal and a brief description of the <br />25 <br />dog, together with a certificate of vaccination from a licensed <br />26 <br />veterinarian, showing that the dog has been vaccinated with canine <br />27 <br />rabies vaccine within a period of twelve months preceding date of <br />28 <br />application for license or that such a vaccination might be fatal <br />to the animal due to its physical condition. <br />
