i ORDINANCE NO. 1608 1 AN URGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON PROVIDING FOR A VETERINARIAN'S CERTIFICATE 2 THAT CANINE RABIES VACCINATION MIGHT BE FATAL TO AN ANI?SIAL DUE TO ITS PHYSICAL CONDITION. 3 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON ORDAINS: 4 Section 1 5 Section 11 of Ordinance 1326 and Section 7.08.130 of 6 the Colton Municipal Code is amended to read as follows: 7 In order to protect the public health and safety all dogs 8 or similar type animals within the city must be vaccinated each 9 year with canine rabies vaccine. It is unlawful for any person 10 to own, have interest in, harbor and feed or have the care, charge, 11: custody or possession of a dog over the age of four months unless 12 such dog has been vaccinated with canine rabies vaccine by in - 13 jection or other approved method by a duly qualified and licensed 14 veterinarian or unless such a veterinarian has issued a written 15 certificate that such a vaccination might be fatal to the animal 16 due to its physical condition and such certificate has been filed 17 with, and a license issued by, the City for the animal. 18 Section 2 19 Section 12 of Ordinance 1326 and Section 7.08.140 of the 20 Colton Municipal Code is amended to read as follows: 21 No license to own or harbor a doq or similar type animal 22 shall be issued except upon application in writing to the city, 23 setting forth the name and address of the owner or possessor of 24 the dog, or similar type animal and a brief description of the 25 dog, together with a certificate of vaccination from a licensed 26 veterinarian, showing that the dog has been vaccinated with canine 27 rabies vaccine within a period of twelve months preceding date of 28 application for license or that such a vaccination might be fatal to the animal due to its physical condition.
