<br />gence of a general character, and which newspaper
<br />at all the times herein mentioned had and still
<br />has a bona fide subscription list of paying sub-
<br />scribers, end which newspaper has been estab-
<br />lished, printed and published at regular intervals
<br />in the said City of Colton, State of California,
<br />County of Son Bernardino, for a period exceeding
<br />one year next preceding the date of publication of
<br />the notice hereinafter referred to; and which news-
<br />paper is not devoted to nor published for the in-
<br />terests, enteriumment or instruction of a particular
<br />class, profession, trade, calling, race, or denomin-
<br />ation, or any number of some; that the notice, of

<br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
<br />THE CITY OF COLTON
<br />PROVIDING FOR A
<br />VETERINARIAN'S
<br />CERTIFICATE THAT CANINE
<br />RABIES VACCINATION
<br />MIGHT BE FATAL TOAN
<br />ANIMAL DUE TO ITS
<br />PHYSICAL CONDITION
<br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
<br />CITY OF COLTON ORDAINS:
<br />Section 1.
<br />Section 11 of Ordinance 1326
<br />and Section 7.08.130 of the Colton
<br />Municipal Code is amended to
<br />read as follows:
<br />In order to protect the public
<br />health and safety all dogs or
<br />similar type of animals within
<br />the city must be vaccinated each
<br />year with canine rabies vaccine.
<br />I1 is unlawful for any person to
<br />own, have interest in, harbor and
<br />feed or have the care, charge,
<br />custody or possession of a dog
<br />over the age of four months
<br />unless such dog has been v
<br />cinated with canine rabies va
<br />cine by injection or other appy.

<br />unless such a veterinarian has
<br />issued a written certificate that
<br />such a vaccination might be fatal
<br />to the animal due to its physical
<br />condition and such certificate
<br />has been filed with, and a license
<br />issued by, the City for the
<br />animal.
<br />Section 2
<br />Section 12 of Ordinance 1326
<br />and section 7.08.140 of the Colton
<br />Municipal Code is amended to
<br />read as follows:
<br />No license to own or harbor a
<br />dog or similar type animal shall
<br />be issued except upon applica-
<br />tion in writing to the city, setting
<br />forth the name and address of
<br />the owner or possessor of the
<br />dog, or similar type animal and a
<br />brief description of the dog,
<br />together with a certificate of vac-
<br />cination from a licensed
<br />veterinarian, showing that the
<br />dog has been vaccinated with
<br />canine rabies vaccine within a
<br />period of twelve months
<br />preceding date of application for
<br />license or that such a vaccination
<br />might be fatal to the animal due
<br />to its physical condition.
<br />Section 3
<br />The City Council finds and
<br />declares: an urgency exists in
<br />that there are dogs in the City
<br />that are not now licensed as re-
<br />quired; the enactment of this or-
<br />dinance will cause such animals
<br />to be examined by veterinarians
<br />and then licensed; the preserva-

<br />safety require that this or-
<br />dinance take effect immediately
<br />as an urgency ordinance.
<br />Section 4
<br />This ordinance shall take ef-
<br />fect immediately.
