R-151-07
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON
AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 2119 TO INCLUDE ADDITIONAL
THROUGH STREETS AND STOP INTERSECTIONS ("F" STREET/10TH
STREET)
WHEREAS, California Vehicle Code section 21354 authorizes a local
authority to designate any highway under its jurisdiction to designate any
intersection as a stop intersection and to erect stop signs at one or more
entrances thereto; and
WHEREAS, California Vehicle Code section 385 defines a "local
authority" as the legislative body of a city; and
WHEREAS, California Vehicle Code section 21101 authorizes the
City Council of the Colton to designate stop intersections by resolution; and
WHEREAS, there is substantial evidence upon which the City
Council may reasonably adopt the stop sign design provided for in this
Resolution. Such evidence includes the following facts:
1. The subject intersection has increased in traffic volume,
particularly the north and southbound approaches.
2. The increase in traffic creates an unsafe condition for motorists
and pedestrians.
3. The Colton Traffic Safety Committee reviewed the location
and voted to recommend approval of the stop signs at the subject intersection.
