1 <br />2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 <br />9 <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />Veterans Day - November 11 <br />WHEREAS, over 93,000 servicemen and servicewomen who served in the United <br />States Armed Forces during World War I, the Korean War and the War in Indochina, continue <br />their status, listed as prisoners of war or missing inaction; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Colton, together with our nation, is deeply indebted to the <br />servicemen and servicewomen, all of whom have courageously served during those times of <br />war and global conflict; and <br />WHEREAS, in honor of those courageous servicemen and servicewomen, the Colton <br />City Council deems it appropriate for the POW/MIA Flag to be continuously displayed at all <br />public facilities throughout the City to increase public awareness of this issue and to gain <br />public support for the efforts of the United States Government's commitment to resolve this <br />matter; and <br />WHEREAS, in honor of our nation, state and local government, the City of Colton <br />regularly displays national, state and local flags on the grounds of all City facilities. <br />NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON DOES <br />HEREBY RESOLVE, that the City of Colton hereby establishes this policy for continuously <br />displaying the POW/MIA Flag on the grounds of all City facilities, during normal business <br />hours or for twenty-four hours a day if properly illuminated during the hours of darkness, and <br />in accordance with the rules and customs established by the United States Government, <br />entitled "Our Flag", and attached hereto as Exhibit "A". <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of June, 2008. <br />JPHN D._`MITCKELL <br />Mayor Pro Tempore <br />ATTEST: <br />V <br />CAROLINA R.
