R-87-08 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON, <br />AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL OF FOUR APPLICATIONS FOR THE <br />FEDERAL SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL GRANT PROGRAM, 2ND CYCLE. <br />WHEREAS, Section 1404 of Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation <br />Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU), authorized the federal Safe Routes to School <br />(SRTS) Program in August, 2005 to provide funds for safety improvements near schools to <br />encourage students to walk or bike to school; and <br />WHEREAS, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) solicits <br />Federal Safe Routes to Schools Grant Program projects from local agencies on an <br />annual basis; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Colton is dedicated to improving <br />the street infrastructure; <br />THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON DO <br />HEREBY RESOLVE <br />1. Authorization for submittal of four applications for the Federal Safe Routes <br />to School program for grant assistance and <br />2. Appoints Daryl Parrish, City Manager, as agent of City of Colton to conduct <br />all negotiations, execute and submit all documents including but not limited <br />to applications, agreements, amendments, payment requests and so on, <br />which may be necessary for the completion of the projects. <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED THIS 15th DAY OF JULY 2008. <br />"�, C� <br />KELLY ASTAIN, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />CAROLINA R.
