R-31-10 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON <br />SUPPORTING THE CONCEPT OF BLUE MOUNTAIN PARK <br />WHEREAS, the "Friends of Blue Mountain" is a local non-profit corporation which <br />has been established to assist in the acquisition of private lands for conversion to a public <br />park, and has launched an effort to establish a public park on the site of Blue Mountain, and; <br />WHEREAS, a map of the proposed park location is attached as Exhibit "A" to this <br />resolution, and; <br />WHEREAS, much of this proposed park would be located within the City of Colton, <br />and the "Friends of Blue Mountain" have requested the support of City Council in its efforts to <br />conceptually establish such a park on Blue Mountain, and; <br />WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that much of this land in the City of Colton <br />is privately owned and does not wish to infringe on any ownership or development rights <br />associated with said property, and; <br />WHEREAS, the site of Blue Mountain is potentially a valuable natural resource, and <br />conceptually represents a good location for a public park, and; <br />WHEREAS, a park on the site of Blue Mountain has the potential to provide <br />connectivity between park land in Riverside County and the Santa Ana River Trail in Colton, <br />and; <br />WHEREAS, the Colton City Council supports public parks as a valuable resource to <br />the community. <br />NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON <br />DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Colton supports the concept of a public <br />park on the site of Blue Mountain. <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 1 st day of June, 2010. <br />KI�ELY J.it'IVASTAIN, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />EILEEN C.
