RESOLUTION NO. R-71-10 <br />I <br />2 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON <br />3 <br />SUPPORTING "BUSINESS FRIENDLY PRINCIPLES" AS PART OF SCAG'S <br />DEVELOPMENT OF A SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ECONOMIC GROWTH <br />4 <br />STRATEGY <br />5 <br />WHEREAS, the City of Colton is a member of the Southern California Association of <br />6 <br />Governments ("SCAG"), who is engaged in the development of a Southern California <br />7 <br />Economic Growth Strategy, and; <br />8 <br />WHEREAS, Colton supports working with SCAG and other key economic <br />9 <br />stakeholders to improve the Southern California economy, and; <br />10 <br />WHEREAS, Colton is a business friendly municipality and has numerous practices in <br />place to encourage economic growth within its community. <br />11 <br />12 <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Colton <br />13 <br />that Colton supports the following "Business Friendly Principles" as part of SCAG's <br />14 <br />development of a Southern California Economic Growth Strategy: <br />15 <br />16 <br />• Principle One—Economic Development as a Priority. The City of Colton strives to <br />demonstrate commitment to economic development as a priority. <br />17 <br />• Principle Two—Business Partnership. Colton strives to provide quality municipal <br />18 <br />services to attract and retain businesses and employees. <br />19 <br />• Principle Three—Business Responsive Processes. Colton strives to communicate <br />20 <br />effectively with businesses, including processes to increase its responsiveness to <br />businesses that are seeking or doing business within its jurisdiction by responding to <br />21 <br />initial inquiries within two (2) business days, and by assisting businesses through the <br />22 <br />city's development permitting processes. <br />23 <br />• Principle Four Attractiveness to Business Investment. Colton strives to streamline <br />24 <br />operations for more efficient and responsive business assistance in the areas of <br />licensing, permitting, inspections and other municipal services and will seek to <br />25 <br />improve its attractiveness to new and existing businesses within its jurisdiction. <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />
