RESOLUTION NO. R-71-10 I 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON 3 SUPPORTING "BUSINESS FRIENDLY PRINCIPLES" AS PART OF SCAG'S DEVELOPMENT OF A SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ECONOMIC GROWTH 4 STRATEGY 5 WHEREAS, the City of Colton is a member of the Southern California Association of 6 Governments ("SCAG"), who is engaged in the development of a Southern California 7 Economic Growth Strategy, and; 8 WHEREAS, Colton supports working with SCAG and other key economic 9 stakeholders to improve the Southern California economy, and; 10 WHEREAS, Colton is a business friendly municipality and has numerous practices in place to encourage economic growth within its community. 11 12 NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Colton 13 that Colton supports the following "Business Friendly Principles" as part of SCAG's 14 development of a Southern California Economic Growth Strategy: 15 16 • Principle One—Economic Development as a Priority. The City of Colton strives to demonstrate commitment to economic development as a priority. 17 • Principle Two—Business Partnership. Colton strives to provide quality municipal 18 services to attract and retain businesses and employees. 19 • Principle Three—Business Responsive Processes. Colton strives to communicate 20 effectively with businesses, including processes to increase its responsiveness to businesses that are seeking or doing business within its jurisdiction by responding to 21 initial inquiries within two (2) business days, and by assisting businesses through the 22 city's development permitting processes. 23 • Principle Four Attractiveness to Business Investment. Colton strives to streamline 24 operations for more efficient and responsive business assistance in the areas of licensing, permitting, inspections and other municipal services and will seek to 25 improve its attractiveness to new and existing businesses within its jurisdiction. 26 27 28
