R-75-10 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON, <br />SUPPORTING THE SUBMITTAL OF AN APPLICATION FOR THE FEDERAL <br />RAILROAD ADMINISTRATION RAIL LINE RELOCATION AND IMPROVEMENT <br />CAPITAL GRANT PROGRAM. <br />WHEREAS, Congress authorized Section 9002 of SAFETEA-LU for the Federal <br />Railroad Administration's Rail Line Relocation and Improvement Capital Grant Program; <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Colton elected to enter into a <br />Memorandum of Understanding with San Bernardino Associated Governments, BNSF <br />Railway Company and Union Pacific Railroad Corporation on May 4, 2010 to improve rail <br />operations and decrease rail impacts within Colton <br />WHEREAS, the Federal Railroad Administration has $20,502,500 available in the <br />Rail Line Relocation and Improvement Capital Grant Program for this fiscal year; <br />WHEREAS, the City 9th Street Rail Line Relocation Project would eliminate eleven <br />grade separations and improve pedestrian safety, rail operations, decrease noise and air <br />impacts, facilitate future economic development and eliminate disruption to emergency <br />vehicles; and, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON DO <br />HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: <br />• Support the submittal of the 9th Street Rail Relocation Project for the FRA Rail <br />Line Relocation and Improvement Capital Grant Program in the amount of $12.7 <br />million. <br />• Authorize the City Manger to sign any related grant documents. <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED THIS 16" DAY OF NOVEMBER 2010. <br />KELLY . 41ASTAIN <br />Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />/ Q - <br />MC C.
