RESOLUTION NO. R-90-18 <br />1 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />2 OF COLTON AMENDING THE BUDGET FOR FISCAL <br />YEAR 2018-19 TO APPROPRIATE CAP AND TRADE <br />3 FUNDS IN THE ELECTRIC DEPARTMENT FOR THE <br />AIR CONDITIONING REPLACEMENT PROGRAM FOR <br />4 ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN CITY FACILITIES <br />5 <br />WHEREAS, the budget for fiscal year 2018-19 has been approved by City Council, and <br />6 must now be amended to increase the appropriation in the Electric Utility Department by <br />7 $300,000 to appropriate cap and trade funds for the air conditioning (AC) replacement program <br />8 for energy efficiency in City facilities; and, <br />9 WHEREAS, the Colton Electric Department has received proceeds from the sale of <br />10 allocated emissions allowances from the Cap and Trade (C&T) Program; and, <br />11 WHEREAS, proceeds from the sale of allocated allowances are restricted by the C&T <br />Regulation, and by City of Colton Resolution R-82-13; and, <br />12 WHEREAS, the use of proceeds from the sales of allocated allowances are allowed for <br />13 the investment and expenditures associated with reductions in carbon emissions; and, <br />14 WHEREAS, the replacement of old, inefficient AC units at City facilities with new, high <br />15 efficiency units, or with Ice Bears (thermal energy units) results in reduction of carbon emissions; <br />16 and, <br />17 WHEREAS, sufficient funds from the sale of allocated emission allowances are available <br />18 in the Electric Department unappropriated reserve fund for the AC replacement program. <br />19 NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Colton does hereby <br />resolve the following: <br />20 Section 1. The City Council hereby amends the fiscal year 2018-19 budget <br />21 appropriation as follows: <br />22 Increase expenditure account number 520-8000-8001-3890-0107-000, Capital <br />Improvement, by $300,000.00. <br />23 <br />24 PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 7th day of August 2018. <br />25 <br />26 RICHARD A.
