R-94-18 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON <br />AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT WITH THE <br />CALIFORNIA STATE LIBRARY AND AMEND THE FY 2018-2019 BUDGET TO <br />ACCEPT $7,500 IN GRANT FUNDING FOR THE IMMIGRANT ALLIANCE <br />PROJECT <br />WHEREAS, California is home to more than 10 million immigrants and the latest <br />available data show that nearly 27% of California's population is foreign born, about twice <br />the US percentage overall; and <br />WHEREAS, Public libraries play a key role in welcoming and educating immigrants and <br />the Immigrant Alliance Project was created to support libraries as they create, enhance, and <br />extend services to immigrants and their families; and <br />WHEREAS, the Library Division of the Community Services Department has been <br />selected by the California State Library — Immigrant Alliance Project as a Tier 2 recipient at <br />the funding level of $7,500 and funding will be reimbursed upon receipt of all documentation, <br />at execution of the agreement, after September 1, 2018. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Colton does hereby resolve as <br />follows: <br />Section 1: The staff report accompanying this resolution is found to be true, adopted as <br />findings, and incorporated into this resolution. <br />Section 2: To amend the FYI 8/19 budget to increase revenue in Library Grants Revenue <br />Account Number 225-5852-000 in the amount of $7,500 and increase expenditure <br />appropriations by $7,500 in account 225-6200-6250-2302-0000-000. <br />Section 3: The City Manager is hereby authorized to sign the applicable documents on <br />behalf of the City to execute this agreement. <br />PASSED, APPROVED <br />CAROLINA R.
