R-53-16 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF COLTON, REVISING SECTION I, I -1(A) OF THE <br />CITY COUNCIL MANUAL OF PROCEDURE RELATED <br />TO THE PREPARATION OF ORDINANCES, <br />RESOLUTIONS AND CONTRACTS <br />WHEREAS, the City Council conducts its meetings in accordance with its <br />Manual of Procedure ("MOP") and applicable state law, including, but not limited to, the <br />Ralph M. Brown Act (Government Code Section 54950 et seq.); <br />WHEREAS, the City Council adopted the MOP in 1986 and 2007; <br />WHEREAS, the City Council last updated and re -adopted the MOP in its <br />entirely on December 2, 2014; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council seeks to revise section I, I -1(A) of the MOP <br />related to the preparation of ordinances, resolutions and contracts to explicitly state that <br />the City Attorney shall prepare all ordinances when ordered by a "majority" of the City Council. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1. Section I, I -1(A) of the MOP dated December 2, 2014 and <br />adopted on the same date, related to the preparation of ordinances, resolutions and <br />contracts is hereby amended to state: <br />"(A) ORDINANCES. All ordinances shall be prepared by the City <br />Attorney and shall be presented to the Council only when ordered by the <br />majority of the Council, requested by the Mayor, City Manager or prepared <br />by the City Attorney on his or her own initiative." <br />SECTION 2. All other sections of the MOP dated December 2, 2014 will <br />remain unchanged. <br />SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution. <br />99999.91205127378290.1 <br />
