1 <br />2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 <br />9 <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />C:�a%Y17/11yYc17u�c/aa�ar.", <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON, <br />CALIFORNIA DECLARING 22 FIREARMS AS SURPLUS PROPERTY <br />AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SELL FIREARMS TO <br />ARMS UNLIMITED FOR STORE CREDIT IN THE AMOUNT OF $80,000 <br />IN EXCHANGE FOR 22 FIREARMS AND AMENDING THE FISCAL <br />YEAR 2015-16 BUDGET TO ACCOUNT FOR THE ASSET EXCHANGE <br />WHEREAS, the Colton Police Department is a certified participant in the Federal <br />Equitable Sharing Program entitled to an equitable portion of proceeds awarded based on an <br />agency's direct participation in investigations that result in the forfeiture of federally seized <br />assets; and <br />WHEREAS, in or around 1986, the Police Department used said funds, per <br />established guidelines, and in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws, to <br />purchase weapon systems for patrol and special operations units; and <br />WHEREAS, in or around 2000, those weapons systems were determined to be <br />obsolete due to having exceeded their service life, and due to advancements in technology and <br />were taken out of operational service and replaced; and <br />WHEREAS, in or around 2010, the special operations weapon systems were <br />determined to be obsolete due to their having exceeded their service life, and advancements in <br />technology, and those weapon systems were also taken out of operational service and <br />replaced; and <br />WHEREAS, certified armorers and range masters in the Police Department have <br />Idetermined that the weapon systems are no longer reliably effective for law enforcement use; <br />and <br />1 <br />
