1 <br />2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 <br />9 <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />ORDINANCE NO. 0-12-17 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF COLTON AMENDING SECTION 2.30.020 OF THE <br />COLTON MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE <br />APPOINTMENT OF BALLOT MEASURE COMMITTEE <br />MEMBERS <br />WHEREAS, Section 2.30.020 of the Colton Municipal Code describes the composition <br />and selection procedures for City Commissions and Committees and provides the guidance for the <br />selection of members; and <br />WHEREAS, boards and commissions created to advise on ballot measures have been <br />previously vetted through the campaign and election process; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Colton desires to provide flexibility in <br />appointment of members to boards and commission created to advise on approved ballot <br />measures so that the intent of voters is carried out; and <br />WHEREAS, the amendments City Council wishes to amend Section 2.30.020 to provide <br />such flexibility; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Colton, California, does ordain as <br />follows: <br />SECTION 1. Incorporation of Recitals. The City Council hereby finds that all of the <br />foregoing recitals presented herewith are true and correct and are hereby incorporated and adopted <br />as findings of the City Council. <br />SECTION 2. Section 2.30.020 of the Colton Municipal Code is hereby amended to read <br />as follows: <br />"2.30.020 - Composition of Commissions and Committees. <br />All Commissions and Committees of the City Shall be comprised of seven members <br />appointed on the recommendation of each Councilmember and the Mayor, and ratified by a <br />majority vote of the City Council. <br />Notwithstanding the process for appointment of {Cornu-nissions and Committees contained <br />in this section and the manner of appointment contained in section 2.30.030, the process for <br />appointments to independent citizens oversight committees shall be at the discretion of the _City <br />Council or as described in a ballot measure approved by the voters." <br />SECTION 3. Severability. If any section, subsection, subdivision, sentence, clause, <br />phrase, or portion of this Ordinance for any reason is held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the <br />45635.01000\30232568.1 <br />
