Landscape. <br />The accessory dwelling unit must meet the landscaping standards of the <br />applicable zoning district. <br />x. Architecture Review — Historic Districts and Historic Landmarks. <br />The design of the accessory dwelling unit shall relate to the design of the <br />primary residence by use of the similar exterior wall materials, window <br />types, door and window trims, roofing materials and roof pitch. If the site <br />is a designated Historic Landmark or located within a designated Historic <br />District, and visible from the exterior of the primary residence, the <br />accessory dwelling unit shall be reviewed for historic appropriateness by <br />the Preservation Officer in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior's <br />Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties with Guidelines for <br />Preserving, Rehabilitating, Restoring, and Reconstructing Historic <br />Buildings (per CFR 68.3, as amended from time to time), or other <br />standards as may be adopted by City Council resolution. <br />xi. Other Development Standards. <br />The accessory dwelling unit shall be developed to conform to all standards <br />(i.e., lot coverage, height, setbacks, etc.) applicable by the base zoning in <br />which the unit is located, except as modified by this section. <br />2. An accessory dwelling unit is exempt from the requirements of subparagraph (1) if <br />the unit meets all the requirements of subparagraph (2)(i): <br />i. The accessory dwelling unit: <br />1. Is one accessory dwelling unit per single-family lot located within a <br />single-family residential zone (V -L, R-1, R-2); <br />2. Is contained within the existing space of a single-family residence or <br />accessory structure; <br />3. Has independent exterior access from the existing residence; and <br />4. The side and rear setbacks are sufficient for fire safety. <br />ii. If subparagraphs requirements of subparagraph (2)(i) are met, then the <br />applicant: <br />
