2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 <br />9 <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />ORDINANCE NO. 0-06-16 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON TO <br />AMEND MUNICIPAL CODE CHAPTER 6.16 OF TITLE 6 BY ADDING <br />SECTION 6.16.300, ADOPTING A COMMERCIAL ORGANIC WASTE <br />RECYCLING PROGRAM AS REQUIRED OF ALL LOCAL JURISDICTIONS <br />ACROSS THE STATE UNDER AB 1826 CHESBORO (CHAPTER 727, <br />STATUES OF 2014). <br />WHEREAS, Governor Brown signed AB 1826 Chesboro (Chapter 727, Statutes of <br />2014) in October of 2014; and, <br />WHEREAS, the State of California requires all local jurisdictions across the state to <br />adopt an organic waste recycling program on and after January 1, 2016; and, <br />WHEREAS, the State of California requires businesses, including multifamily <br />residential dwellings that consist of five or more units, to divert organic waste on and after April <br />1, 2016; and, <br />WHEREAS, the purpose of the organic waste recycling program is to help achieve the <br />State's greenhouse gas emission goals; and, <br />WHEREAS, the organic waste recycling program reduces the amount of waste <br />disposed of in landfills and repurposes it in the most efficient way possible; and, <br />WHEREAS, the organic waste recycling program also promotes the values and benefits <br />of environmental stewardship, recognizing the need to use resources efficiently. <br />NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON DOES <br />HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1. Chapter 6.16 of the City of Colton Municipal Code shall be revised to <br />include section 6.16.300, creating a Commercial Organic Waste Recycling Program as it is <br />written below: <br />6.16.300 — Commercial Organic Waste Recycling Program. <br />A.
