2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 <br />9 <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />ORDINANCE NO. 0-12-15 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON TO <br />ADOPT THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA'S UPDATED MODEL WATER <br />EFFICIENT LANDSCAPE ORDINANCE AS REQUIRED OF ALL CITIES <br />AND COUNTIES TO EITHER ADOPT THE STATE'S UPDATED MODEL <br />WATER EFFICIENT LANDSCAPE ORDINANCE BY DECEMBER 1, 2015, <br />OR ADOPT THEIR OWN WATER EFFICIENT LANDSCAPE ORDINANCE <br />THAT IS AS EFFECTIVE IN CONSERVING WATER AS THE MODEL <br />ORDINANCE. <br />WHEREAS, the State of California required all cities and counties to either adopt the <br />State's updated Model Efficient Landscape Ordinance by December 1, 2015 or adopt their <br />own as effective in conserving water as the model ordinance; and, <br />WHEREAS, the State of California requires Cities and Counties who did not adopt <br />their own to default to use the State's Model for the water efficient landscape; and, <br />WHEREAS, the purpose of the Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance is to establish a <br />structure for designing, installing, maintaining and managing water efficient landscapes in <br />new and rehabilitated projects; and, <br />WHEREAS, the ordinance also reduces water use to the lowest practical level while <br />establishing provisions for water management practices and water waste prevention for <br />established landscapes; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance also promotes the values and <br />benefits of landscaping while recognizing the need to use water and other resources <br />efficiently. <br />-1- <br />
