1 <br />2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />01 <br />Vll <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19. <br />20 <br />21' <br />22 <br />231' <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1624 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COLTON <br />REQUIRING THE PROVISION OF WATER LINES <br />AND FIRE HYDRANTS IN CONJUNCTION UITH <br />CERTAIN BUILDING CONSTRUCTION OR <br />CHANGE IN USE. <br />WHEREAS, City water lines and systems serving existing lots of record are <br />in many instances inadequate to provide sufficient water pressure and volume for <br />fire protection facilities to protect the public's safety; and <br />WHEREAS, fire hydrants were not supplied in connection with the initial div- <br />ision of such property in many instances, and such !properties are currently <br />denied the protection of adequate fire hydrants; <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION ONE: This Council finds that adequate fire hydrants with sufficient <br />water pressure and volume are necessary prerequisites for the public health, <br />safety, welfare and enjoyment of property within the City of Colton, and con- <br />versely, that the lack of these improvements is injurious to the safety and <br />welfare of the inhabitants of Colton. <br />SECTION TWO: No change may be made in the occupancy or use of any building <br />which would place the building in a different division of the same group of <br />occupancies or in a different group of occupancies, as defined by the edition of <br />the Uniform Building Code then if effect, nor may any building permit be issued <br />for any addition to a building which will increase the area of the building by <br />more than 25% of its existing area, nor shall any permit be issued for the <br />construction of a building, structure, or dwelling unless provisions are made <br />for the construction and installation of such water lines and fire hydrants as <br />are determined by the Department of Public Works to be necessary to provide <br />(necessary fire flow in accordance with City standards. <br />SECTION THREE: Upon written recommendation of the City Fire Chief, the <br />City Engineer may in his discretion authorize the construction and installation <br />of water lines and fire hydrants by the property owner at a later date upon <br />
