R-95-93 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF COLTON ESTABLISHING THE <br />COLTON YOUTH BOARD <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Colton (the "City") <br />desires to establish an advisory body representative of the seven <br />electoral districts in the City to promote Council, city staff and <br />public understanding of the achievements, problems and needs of the <br />City's young people under the age of eighteen; and <br />WHEREAS, such an advisory body, to be designated the Colton <br />Youth Board, will enable young people to participate in various <br />City activities and to make recommendations to the Council <br />therefor, thereby encouraging increased interest and participation <br />among young people in community affairs. <br />NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON DOES <br />HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The Colton Youth Board is hereby established as <br />an advisory body to the City Council of the City of Colton, subject <br />to the provisions of the Bylaws which are attached as Exhibit A. <br />Section 2. The Colton Youth Board shall be appointed by <br />the City Council and shall be composed of a total of eighteen <br />members. Two members of the public under the age of eighteen <br />shall be nominated by each City Councilmember from his or her <br />councilmanic district and two members shall be nominated by the <br />Mayor from the City at large. Those nominated by City <br />Councilmembers or the Mayor shall be confirmed by vote of the City <br />Council as a whole and shall serve for a one year term. In <br />addition, two members shall be chosen by the principal of Colton <br />Unified High School, and one member shall be chosen by each of the <br />principals of Slover High School and Washington High School to <br />serve one year terms. <br />Section 3. All members of the Colton Youth Board shall be <br />residents of the City and shall be enrolled as a full-time student <br />in grades 8 through 12 in an accredited school serving the City of <br />Colton. <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 21st day of September 1993. <br />ATTEST: <br />/ Q - 7`�� <br />Helen Ramos, City Clerk <br />Frank Gonzales ,Ma <br />
