R-76-96 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF COLTON ENDORSING THE <br />"CALIFORNIA FIRST" CONGRESSIONAL <br />LEADERSHIP SUMMIT SPONSORED BY <br />SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF <br />GOVERNMENTS (SCAG). <br />WHEREAS, the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) is a <br />Joint Powers Agency QPA) established pursuant to Sections 6502 et. seq. of the <br />California Government Code; and <br />WHEREAS, SCAG is the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization <br />(MPO) for the counties of Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, <br />and Ventura; and <br />WHEREAS, the Southern California region of 15 million people has numerous <br />issues of critical concern which can only be successfully resolved when our <br />congressional delegation works together in a bipartisan manner and in a unified <br />way; and <br />WHEREAS, SCAG has invited every Congress Member from Southern <br />California to attend a Congressional Leadership Summit, "California First," which <br />will be held at SCAG on August 19, 1996 to foster unity in the Southern California <br />delegation on issues affecting Southern California; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Colton recognizes the significance of this event and <br />endorses the "California First" Congressional Leadership Summit, which deserves the <br />participation, involvement, and support of all officials who have been elected to <br />serve the citizens of Southern California; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that, we, the City Council of the City of <br />Colton, encourage all of the Southern California Congressional delegation members <br />to attend this important event. <br />
