R-18- <br />88 AND BY REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. R-07-01 <br />WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of California has enacted the Political Reform Act of <br />1974, Government Code Section 8100 et seq. (the "Act"), which contains provisions related to conflicts <br />of interest with potentially affect all officers, employees and consultants of the City of Colton (the <br />"City"), and requires all public agencies to adopt and promulgate a Conflict of Interest Code; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council for the City of Colton did adopt and promulgate a Conflict of <br />Interest Code, approved by Resolutions Nos. 3619, 3623, 3659 and R-18-88, with the most recent <br />amendment to the Conflict of Interest Code adopted on February 6, 2001, in compliance with <br />Government Code Section 8100 et seci.; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Colton did incorporate Regulation 18730 within its Conflict of Interest <br />Code by adopting Resolution No. R-18-99; and <br />WHEREAS, subsequent amendments to and changes in the political Reform Act of 1974 and <br />the regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission, as well as changed circumstances within <br />the City, have made it advisable and necessary pursuant to Sections 87306 and 87307 of the Act to <br />amend and update the City's Conflict of Interest Code; and <br />WHEREAS, the potential penalties for violation of the provisions of the Act are substancial <br />and may include criminal and civil liability, as well as equitable relief; and, <br />WHEREAS, the proposed amendment to the Conflict of Interest Code was provided to each <br />designated employee; and <br />BE IT NOW THEREFORE RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. The City Council of the City of Colton does hereby approve and adopt the proposed <br />amendments to the Conflict of Interest Code, specifically, the "Designated Positions" <br />identified as Appendix "A" attached hereto and made a part hereof, and the <br />1 <br />
