R-68-02 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />COLTON APPROVING TOW TRUCK FRANCHISE <br />AGREEMENTS <br />WHEREAS, the City Council (the "City Council") of the City of Colton (the "City") <br />adopted Ordinance No. 0-18-98 setting forth criteria to evaluate and select tow franchises as <br />Chapter 10.40, et seq., of the Colton Municipal Code; and <br />WHEREAS, under Section 10.40.030 (b), the City shall award up to four (4) tow truck <br />franchises, and currently has two franchise agreements expiring, and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to City Council direction, staff submitted a Request for <br />Qualifications for the evaluation and selection of two additional tow operators to bring the total <br />number of towing franchises to four, and <br />WHEREAS, Purchasing and Police Department staff have completed the evaluation <br />and selection process in accordance with Chapter 10.40,etseq.; and based upon the results <br />of the evaluation criteria, staff recommends that the City Council award franchise agreements <br />to South State Towing and Exclusive Towing, and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to award towing franchises to fill two expiring <br />towing franchise positions in order to maintain efficient Police Department operations and <br />prevent loss of franchise revenue to the City; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, DETERMINED AND ORDERED BY THE <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON AS FOLLOWS: <br />1 <br />
