it <br /> 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2621 <br /> 2 <br /> 3 WHEREAS, the men of this nation are engaged in mortal combat in <br /> 4 Viet Nam in support of the policy commitments of the nation; <br /> 5 WHEREAS, certain groups and individuals in our society have, by illegal <br /> 6 demonstrations and otherwise, sought and are seeking, to undermine this policy, <br /> 7 <br /> WHEREAS, these actions have been given such vast publicity in the <br /> 8 <br /> press, on radio and television, that many people including those of hostile <br /> 9 <br /> nations, have been erroneously led to believe that the majority of our people <br /> 10 <br /> 11 are not willing to support our commitments or uphold our national honor; and <br /> 12 WHEREAS, members of our armed forces , themselves convinced of the <br /> 13 rectitude of our Asian policy, have expressed concern and shock over the <br /> 14 apparent attitude of those for whom they are fighting, and are desirous and <br /> 15 deserving of a forthright statement of our support for and interest in them, <br /> 16 <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Council, as the duly <br /> 17 <br /> elected representatives of the people of the City of Colton , desires to express <br /> 18 <br /> 19 its fullest support and warmest devotion to the Members of the Armed Forces <br /> 20 of this Country fighting in Viet Nam, thus assuring them that the spirit of <br /> 21 patriotism is not dead in this country and that they are neither forgotten nor <br /> 22 unappreciated by us . <br /> 23 PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 16th day of November, 1965 . <br /> 24 ry , <br /> 25 <br /> ayor <br /> 26 <br /> 27 ATTEST: <br /> 28 {. <br /> City-'C1`erk <br /> 29 <br /> 30 <br /> 31 <br /> 32 <br />
