CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF June 6, 2006 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL /j <br />FROM: CANDACE CASSEL, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR ,� � <br />SUBJECT: APRROVE RECRUITMENT AND RATIFICATION OF EMPLOYEE <br />APPOINTMENT TO THE POSITION OF RDA PROJECT MANAGER 1/II <br />DATE: MAY 25, 2006 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Economic Development Department requests approval to fill a vacant Project Manager 1/II <br />position. The Project Manager will be under the supervision of the Economic Development <br />Director to implement and manage various projects as assigned. The salary range is $4270 to <br />$5190 for a Project Manager I, and $5351 to $6504 for a Project Manager II. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />The Economic Development Department assists the City of Colton in performing a variety of <br />activities connected with attracting new businesses to the city, implementing affordable housing <br />programs, and commercial redevelopment projects. <br />In order to maintain a professional level of service each of the above mentioned projects require, <br />the Economic Development Department requests to fill the vacancy as soon as possible. The <br />department plans to recruit for either a Project Manager I or Project Manager II and hire an <br />applicant at the appropriate level based on their qualifications. Given the special duties and <br />responsibilities of the position an outside recruitment is necessary. Any internal candidates will be <br />eligible to apply. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The position has been budgeted for in the 2006/07 FY Economic Development budget. Sufficient <br />funds are available as this position currently exists and was vacated by a separating employee. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST — <br />None <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />
