ITEM #23 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF JULY 18, 2006 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., PW DIRECTOR/CITY ENGINEER <br />SUBJECT: AUTHORIZE REQUEST TO SOLICIT BIDS FOR THE AGUA <br />MANSA ROAD WIDENING AND REALIGNMENT PROJECT. <br />DATE: JULY 11, 2006 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Several improvements will be made along Agua Mansa Road from the San Bernardino Flood <br />Control Channel to Riverside Avenue. The Agua Mansa Road Widening and Realignment Project <br />will address the planned improvements. The improvements include widening the road carriageway <br />to four twelve -foot lanes with a fourteen -foot median. The project will also align the Rialto <br />Channel with the existing channel crossing and a raised median will be constructed to better control <br />traffic's left tum movements from Riverside Avenue to the RIX Facility. Additionally, the project <br />will install curb, gutter and sidewalk along this portion of Agua Mansa Road. <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />The design for this project has been completed by Engineering Resources of Southern California. <br />This project is now ready for construction. Engineering staff will prepare the necessary Plans, <br />Specifications and other documents necessary for the bidding process. Staff requests authorization <br />to solicit bids for the construction of the Agua Mansa Road Widening and Realignment Project. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />The proposed public improvements are Exempt under Section 15301 (c) of the California <br />Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST <br />None. <br />
