ITEM #10 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />F[)R MI NMI MFFTINr. ni: ni=ri=MRFR 1Q 9nna <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: KENNETH RULON, CHIEF OF POLICE <br />SUBJECT: APPROVE ACCEPTANCE OF A STATE OF CALIFORNIA, <br />DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES — TELECOMMUNICATIONS <br />DIVISION GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,636.22 AND ADOPT <br />BUDGET AMENDMENT. <br />DATE: <br />DECEMBER 4, 2006 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On November 17, 2006, the State of California, Department of General Services — <br />Telecommunications Division awarded the City of Colton Police Department a Grant in the <br />amount of $1,636.22 to be used to purchase materials and supplies to provide 9-1-1 classroom <br />instruction to kindergarten and elementary school children. The accompanying Resolution is <br />required to accept this Grant and to amend the budget in the amount of $1,636.22. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />The Department of General Services — Telecommunications Division Grant was awarded to <br />applicant cities who expressed a commitment to provide 9-1-1 instruction to kindergarten and <br />elementary age school children. Funds will be used to purchase materials and supplies necessary <br />to provide the instruction. Funding for the project is by reimbursement and does not require any <br />matching funds. The goal of the instruction is to teach children how to save lives and property <br />through the proper use of 9-1-1. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The accompanying Resolution is required to accept this Grant and to amend the 2006/2007 Fiscal <br />Budget in the amount of $1,636.22. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST — Gift Disclosure Requirements <br />None. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that the City Council approve acceptance of the State of California, <br />Department of General Services — Telecommunications Division Grant in the amount of 1,636.22 <br />and Adopt the Resolution. <br />Attachments: Resolution <br />Prepared by: Mike Hadden, Sergeant <br />REVIEW TEAP4 O LY <br />City Attorney: Finance Director: <br />City Manager: OTHER: <br />
