CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF April 17, 2007
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
APPROVAL: Anthony Arroyo, Human Resources Director
ITEM #4
SUBJECT: Approve and Adopt A Consolidated Salary Resolution for both
Part-time and Full-time Classifications
DATE: April 9, 2007
BACKGROUND:
Maintenance of the City's job table falls under the responsibility of the Human Resources
Department, including presenting a comprehensive salary resolution incorporating changes to
Council twice a year; next update will be in September 2007. The last consolidated salary
resolution (full-time & part-time classifications) was approved by Council on July 18, 2006. In the
interim, the City has undergone continuous changes due to several factors including cost of living
adjustments (January 1, 2007 & April 1, 2007) per negotiated MOUs.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS:
As of July 18, 2006, Council has approved compensation adjustments for several employee
Associations/Unions, implemented salary adjustments resulting from salary studies and
undergone reorganization. The attached salary resolution consolidates all of the salary changes
from July 18, 2006 through April 17, 2007 into one (1) comprehensive salary resolution. The
detailed grade/step listing is not included as an attachment; the listing outlines each position's five
step pay grade. The detailed grade/step listing is 120 pages long and in an effort to save paper,
will be available on the HR Share along with the job table for review.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The financial impact of the consolidated salary resolution was discussed and approved by the City
Council as the changes occurred; adequate funds for the original decisions were budgeted in the
salary and benefit accounts of each affected department.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: None.
CONFLICT OF INTEREST — None.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval by the City Council to amend Resolution R-
87-06 and R-86-06 approving the attached salary resolution consolidating/updating the salary
ranges.
Attachments: Resolution (2)
Prepared by: Blanca Arambula-Moreno, Human Resources Analyst
REVIEW TE M12PLY
City Attorney: Finance Director:
City Manager: LOVW OTHER:
