CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF May 15, 2007 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members <br />FROM: Bob Miller, Chief of Police <br />SUBJECT: Request for Recruitment and Ratification of Employee <br />Appointment to the Full Time Position of Police Captain <br />DATE: April 23, 2007 <br />ITEM #7 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />There is currently one Police Captain vacancy in the Police Department. Attached is the job <br />description for the classification as approved by council on October 12, 2000: salary range is <br />$7,281 to $8,853. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />Recruitment for said position will be conducted and an eligibility list established upon Council <br />approval. The candidate chosen will meet the education and experience requirements as <br />specified in the job description. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The total for salary and benefits is $117,952 to $143,419 per year. Funding is available in the <br />general fund for fiscal year 2006/07 budget. Account No. 100-6070-6071-1010 (salary) 100-6070- <br />6071-1100 (benefits). The Police Captain salary is currently under review and will be adjusted to <br />eliminate impaction to the Police Lieutenant salary.
