Miller, Chief of Police <br />SUBJECT: Approve and adopt a full-time salary resolution for Police Captain <br />DATE: July 3, 2007 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Police Department recently re-established the position of Police Captain. The position has <br />been vacant for over three years. During this vacancy the salary was not updated to keep pace <br />with salary increases for lower ranking positions. The current salary range for the captain <br />position is $7,281 to $8,853. The salary range being proposed is benchmarked 10% above the <br />lieutenant salary and is $ $8,471-$10,296. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />Due to the long term vacancy in this position, the salary has not kept pace and it is necessary to <br />increase the pay.
