ITEM #14 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF FEBRUARY 5, 2008 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: AMANDA RHINEHART;INTERIM PUBLIC WORKS <br />ADMINISTRATOR <br />SUBJECT: AUTHORIZE AWARD OF A CONSTRUCTION AGREEMENT <br />FOR THE MAX LOFY PARK IMPROVEMENT PROJECT TO <br />SOL CONSTRUCTION, INC., IN THE AMOUNT OF $83,610.00. <br />DATE: JANUARY 24, 2008 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Max Lofy Park is located between East D Street on the north and East E Street on the south. <br />Home of the Ken Hubbs Field, Max Lofy Park spans 0.69 acre. This park has a small picnic area <br />and parking lot located adjacent to the field on the south side. Council action on December 4, <br />2007 authorized staff to solicit bids for the Max Lofy Park Improvements Project. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />The Max Lofy Park Improvement Project will provide the following improvements: installation of <br />curb, gutter, sidewalk, pathways, and landscaping. The attached Exhibit A is a park layout <br />identifying the noted improvements. Staff solicited informal bids for the Max Lofy Park <br />Improvement Project (public project) as required by the Purchasing Ordinance Section 3.08.080 <br />and received following bids. <br />1- Sol Construction, Inc. in the amount of $83,610 <br />2- Olivas Valdez, Inc. in the amount of $92,057 <br />3- Portsmouth Construction in the amount of $100,581 <br />4- Heavenly Landscape Art No response. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Project funding was budgeted in account 450-0821-6987-3890, in the amount of $117,845. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />The proposed public improvements are exempt under Section 15302 <br />(Replacement/Reconstruction) and 15311 (Accessory Structure).
