<br />cWHEREAS, having served 27 years in a law enforcement career with the Colton Polic
<br />Department, Sgt. Steve Glass has marked July 25, 2008, as his date of retirement; and
<br />cWHEREAS, through the years, Steve faithfully served under the command of eigh
<br />Police Chiefs (Elliott, Connolly, Stratton, Lunsford, Crowe, Huesterberg, Rulon an
<br />Miller); and
<br />'WHEREAS, throughout his tenure, Steve has made many professional contribution.
<br />that have been vital to the daily operations of the Colton Police Department; and
<br />cWHEREAS, in 1987, Steve assumed the position of Narcotics Detective and Narcotic
<br />and Gang Unit Supervisor, whereby he was instrumental in the formation of an in-
<br />house Narcotics Investigation Unit—and today, this Unit continues to thrive with fou
<br />Detectives and a Sergeant; and
<br />'WHEREAS, in 1991, Steve promoted to Sergeant, but throughout his tenure hel
<br />progressive positions as Patrol, Watch Commander, Platoon Sergeant, K-9 Uni
<br />Supervisor with two canine partners, Firearm's Trainer, Rangemaster, Detectiv
<br />Sergeant, SWAT Marksman, Administrative and Internal Affairs Sergeant, as well a
<br />represented the City of Colton on various law enforcement matters, projects an
<br />educational awareness programs; and
<br />cWHEREAS, it is important that all citizens recognize the duties, responsibilities
<br />hazards, and the sacrifices made by law enforcement professionals; and
<br />cWHEREAS, without reservation, Steve has upheld his duty to safeguard the rights an
<br />freedoms of all citizens—by protecting them against violence and disorder ani
<br />shielding the innocent against deception and the weak against oppression.
<br />c%20W THEREFORE, 1, Kelly J. Chastain, Mayor of the City of Colton, along with m�
<br />fellow Council Members, do hereby proclaim it an honor and a privilege, to tender
<br />this proclamation to Sergeant Steve Glass for his 27 years of distinguished service t(
<br />the citizenry of this community. Best wishes in all your future endeavors.
