ITEM #16 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF OCTOBER 21, 2008 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: MARITZA TAPIA, INTERIM PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: APPROVE RECORDATION OF GRANT OF EASEMENT TO <br />PACIFIC BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY FOR UTILITY <br />PURPOSES FROM THE CITY OF COLTON OF ASSESOR <br />PARCEL NUMBERS (APN) 0160-202-13 ALONG RANCHO <br />AVENUE, IN THE CITY OF COLTON. <br />DATE: October 14, 2008 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Pacific Bell Telephone Company is proposing install a service terminal cabinet that is located <br />along 1591 Rancho Avenue. The proposed re -location would require an easement from the City of <br />Colton to remove the existing service along the street right-of-way and relocate it along the City <br />owned property at 1591 Rancho Avenue. <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />The purpose of the easement is to construct, reconstruct and maintain (place, operate, inspect, <br />repair, replace and remove) such underground communication facilities as Grantee(s) may from <br />time to time require (including ingress thereto and egress there from) consisting of wires, cables, <br />conduits, pipes, manholes, handholes, service boxes, aboveground markers, risers, service <br />pedestals, underground and aboveground switches, fuses, terminals, terminal equipment cabinets, <br />transformers with associated concrete pads, associated electrical conductors, necessary fixtures and <br />appurtenances necessary. The relocation of the service box would improve safety along Rancho <br />Avenue by improving the street visibility by removing the existing obstruction. <br />The necessary easements were prepared by Pacific Bell Telephone Company. The proposed <br />Easement Plats have been reviewed and approved by the Public Works Department and are <br />attached to this report as Exhibit "A". <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None <br />
