CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />=AD C_C11 INC_11 MPFTINCZ CIF Nnvcmh r 47 9nna <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: Bill Smith, Interim Deputy City Manager <br />ITEM #4 <br />SUBJECT: Recommend Approval of Side Letter to Current Memorandum <br />of Understanding Between the City of Colton and the Colton <br />Firefighters Association <br />DATE: November 10, 2009 <br />BACKGROUND <br />Due to the current budget situation, staff has consulted with all employee bargaining groups and <br />asked each of them for assistance in helping to reduce expenditures. The Colton Firefighters <br />Association (CFA) has responded with a proposal to reduce CFA member salaries by 7.4%, for the <br />period between December 1, 2009 and June 30, 2010. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS <br />The attached Side Letter is reflective of the terms outlined above. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />The approval of this Side Letter will reduce full-time salary expenditures in the Fire Department by <br />7.4% over the next seven months. This account group is 100-6090-6090, and the total salary <br />savings is anticipated to be approximately $115,511. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: None <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST <br />Colton Firefighters Association <br />Doug Blinkinsop - President <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends that the City Council approve the Side Letter to the current Memorandum of <br />Understanding between the City of Colton and the Colton Firefighters Association, and authorize <br />the Interim Deputy City Manager to execute this agreement on behalf of the City. <br />Attachment: Side Letter to MOU between the City of Colton and the Colton Firefighters Association <br />REVIEW TEAM O Y <br />City Attorney:�ilc <br />Finance Director: ✓lam <br />City Manager: OTHER: ty <br />
