ACEVEDO, Finance Director SUBJECT: Award of Bid for Various Transformers to Date: October 15, 1991 WESCO Utility in the Amount of $20,294.72, Utility Products in the Amount of $4,980.20, G.E. Supply Co. in the Amount of $6,181. and Young & Co. in the Amount of $14,519.32 BACKGROUND Utility transformers are ordered into Electric Stores inventory on an as required basis. The quantity and sizes are projected by the City's Electrical Engineer as plans are submitted for new development and replacement trasnformers are needed. On September 19, 1991, General Services advertised for sealed bids for some. of these requirements. DISCUSSION Bid opening was held at 2:30 p.m., October 3, 1991, in the General Services office. Four bids were received and evaluated. A Bid Analysis is attached showing the price and delivery quoted by each vendor, the recommended vendor's price is underlined for each trans- former. The total of bid award is listed at the bottom for each vendor. Also attached, is a Transformer Load Loss Evaluation, which was pre- pared on the computer. This evaluation shows the true cost of the transformer over its useful lifetime, using a combination of load calculations supplied by the transformer manufacturer and unit prices quoted by the vendor. The result of this evaluation determines the recommended vendor. The lowest evaluated cost for each trasnformer is underlined. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that bid award be made to WESCO of $20,294.72, Utility Products in the amount of Co. in the amount of $6,181.83 and Young & Co. in $14,519.32.
