HUTTON, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS Date: 1/25/93 <br />SUBJECT: FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY DISASTER ASSISTANCE <br />PROGRAM APPROVAL OF REIMBURSEMENT/TRANSFER <br />BACKGROUND <br />During periods of natural disasters, such as floods, high winds, <br />earthquakes or other natural occurrences, and at the discretion of <br />the governor or higher.authority a disaster area may be pronounced <br />where as certain cost incurred during the disaster can be <br />recovered. <br />DISCUSSION/DESCRIPTION: <br />During the high winds and rains received in February of 1992 the <br />street division of Public Works incurred major expenses as a direct <br />result of the, inclement weather. As a means to recover some part <br />of the unexpected cost, an application for disaster assistance was <br />filed with the Federal emergency management agency, and the city <br />was able to recover a portion of the related expense <br />FINANCIAL• <br />See attachment (Exhibit of FEMA reimbursement) <br />The reimbursement amount that has been received fromF.E.M.A. for <br />the street divisions expense incurred amounts to 5,872.00. <br />These funds are currently in a holding account (number 01-614). <br />w <br />
