Zamora '" °'^'TS, -9 aaIZ� Community Development Director SUBJECT: Approval of a Dance Permit for Mule Lip Saloon, located at 1349 A West Valley Blvd., Colton, CA DATE: June 24, 1996 BACKGROUND: Mule Lip Saloon is located at 1349 A West Valley Boulevard in the City of Colton. Mr. Bill Thomas, Owner, is requesting a dance permit per Chapter 5.32 of the Colton Municipal Code, Dances, Section 5.32.040, Permit -Application and Issuance. DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: �- Mr. Thomas is proposing to provide a variety of types of entertainment and to conduct public dances each week, as part of on-going social events at this location. No alcohol will be served; refreshments will consist of canned soft drinks. The dances will cater to groups 16 years of age and over, and a strict dress code will be imposed. No overly baggy clothes will be permitted. Western attire is considered appropriate. The proposed hours of operation are Thursday 6:00 p.m. to midnight and Friday and Saturday, 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Security service will be provided by staff both inside the facility and in the parking lot, to ensure that no alcoholic beverages are consumed. As part of the Conditions of Approval, the occupancy load limits, previously established by the City of Colton Fire Department, and endorsed by the Building and Safety Division, will be imposed. There is a minimum possibility of a negative impact projected on the traffic in the area and on the other businesses within the surrounding area. ALTERNATIVES: Not to approve the application. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Mule Lip Saloon will provide a average source of revenue to the City of Colton in the form of Sales Tax and Business License Tax.
