Zamora '" °'^'TS, -9 aaIZ� <br />Community Development Director <br />SUBJECT: Approval of a Dance Permit for Mule Lip Saloon, located <br />at 1349 A West Valley Blvd., Colton, CA <br />DATE: June 24, 1996 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Mule Lip Saloon is located at 1349 A West Valley Boulevard in the City of Colton. Mr. <br />Bill Thomas, Owner, is requesting a dance permit per Chapter 5.32 of the Colton <br />Municipal Code, Dances, Section 5.32.040, Permit -Application and Issuance. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />�- Mr. Thomas is proposing to provide a variety of types of entertainment and to conduct <br />public dances each week, as part of on-going social events at this location. No alcohol <br />will be served; refreshments will consist of canned soft drinks. The dances will cater to <br />groups 16 years of age and over, and a strict dress code will be imposed. No overly <br />baggy clothes will be permitted. Western attire is considered appropriate. The <br />proposed hours of operation are Thursday 6:00 p.m. to midnight and Friday and <br />Saturday, 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Security service will be provided by staff both inside <br />the facility and in the parking lot, to ensure that no alcoholic beverages are consumed. <br />As part of the Conditions of Approval, the occupancy load limits, previously established <br />by the City of Colton Fire Department, and endorsed by the Building and Safety <br />Division, will be imposed. There is a minimum possibility of a negative impact projected <br />on the traffic in the area and on the other businesses within the surrounding area. <br />ALTERNATIVES: <br />Not to approve the application. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Mule Lip Saloon will provide a average source of revenue to the City of Colton in the <br />form of Sales Tax and Business License Tax.
