VEGA, FINANCE DIRECTOR <br />(� <br />SUBJECT: AWARD OF BID FOR A MOBILE COMMAND POST TRAILER FOR THE POLICE <br />DEPARTMENT TO MIGHTY MOVER TRAILERS, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $25,000. <br />DATE: MARCH 20,1997 <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City Council approved funding in the FY 96-97 budget for the Police Department to purchase a mobile <br />command post trailer. The trailer will be utilized as a headquarters for emergency response to community <br />policing operations. It will also serve as an immediate headquarters and communications center in the <br />event of a major disaster as well as other police related situations. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS <br />On February 27, 1997, Purchasing solicited sealed bids for the purchase of this command post trailer. <br />Three bid packages were mailed to specialty trailer vendors. Bid opening was held at 2:30 p.m. on March <br />19, 1997. One bid was received from Mighty Mover Trailers, Corona, CA. <br />Our purchasing ordinance allows the awarding of a contract when a single bid is received, as long as the <br />bid is received from a responsible vendor and is within the amount that was budgeted. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />None <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />The Council approved $10,200 in the Brulty Grant Program, account number 100-6070-6085-4930 and <br />$1 , 00 in the AQ_W Pollution Reduction Grant program ,account number 214-7000-7011-4930. <br />Bernie Lunsf rd, Po e C of <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />The purchase of this trailer will help in pollution control by reducing trips to and from the police station. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends that Council award a contract for the purchase of this command post trailer to Mighty <br />Mover Trailers in the amount of $25,000. <br />Report prepared by Mary J.
