Barrera, City Clerk <br />I SUBJECT: CERTIFICATION OF SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD <br />NOVEMBER 4, 1997 IN THE CITY OF COLTON <br />I DATE: NOVEMBER 26, 1997 <br />Background: <br />At the August 5, 1997 Council Meeting, the City Council Meeting, the City Council adopted <br />Resolution No. R-94-97, Calling and Giving Notice of the Holding of a Special Municipal Election <br />to be held in the City of Colton, with respect to Measure on the Recall of Councilmember David <br />Sandoval. <br />Discussion: <br />The City Council by adoption of Resolution No. R-95-97 authorized the county election <br />department of the County of San Bernardino canvass the returns of the Special Municipal Recall <br />Election. The canvass was completed on November 24, 1997 and finds that the majority of voters <br />on the measure did vote in favor of it and the measure did carry. <br />It is now in order for the City Council to accept the certification and declare the results of the <br />election by adoption of the attached Resolution. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends adoption of the attached Resolution, reciting the facts and declaring the results of <br />the November 4, 1997, Special Municipal Election. <br />Item # I <br />
