AGENDA REPORT <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />For City Council Meeting of <br />February 4, 1997 <br />January 30, 1997 <br />TO: MAYOR GAYTAN, CITY COUNCIL AND CITY MANAGER <br />FROM: Julie Hayward Biggs, City Attorney <br />t <br />SUBJECT: Reclassification Legal Assistant to RDA Housing Manager/Deputy City Attorney <br />As you are aware, in the last budget the City Council approved the position of Legal <br />Assistant. The idea at the time was to provide clerical assistance at a relatively high competency <br />level. As it turned out, we were able to recruit a fully qualified attorney, experienced in <br />housing and redevelopment matters and in municipal law to fill the position. Since that person <br />has been hired, it has become apparent that the work that is being performed is far above the <br />classification assigned. Accordingly, after discussion among staff and with the City Manager, <br />it has been determined that it is appropriate to reclassify the Legal Assistant to the newly created <br />position of RDA Housing Manager/Deputy City Attorney. It is my strong recommendation that <br />this reclassification be approved to accurately reflect and compensate the level of work being <br />performed. <br />Concurrence: <br />Malik Dantala Freeman, Interim City Manager <br />Item No. 27 <br />
