VEGA, FINANCE DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR MISCELLANEOUS ELECTRICAL <br />MATERIAL TO GRAYBAR ELECTRIC FOR THE PERIOD <br />JANUARY 8, 1997 THROUGH JUNE 30, 1998 <br />DATE: DECEMBER 19, 1996 <br />BACKGROUND <br />On November 27, 1996 Purchasing posted a "Notice Inviting Bids" for a one year contract on <br />miscellaneous electrical material requirements as generated by various City departments. <br />These contracts will be on an "as required" basis for the period January 8, 1997 through June 30, 1998, <br />and as such, an exact contract amount cannot be predetermined. It should be noted, that the vendors are <br />required to have local outlets for these materials and the majority of items purchased will be on a "will calf' <br />basis. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS <br />Bid opening was held on December 11, 1996, at 10:00 a.m., in the Purchasing Office. One bid was <br />received from Graybar Electric Company. The bid reflects varying percentages off the Trade Service <br />Book, "end column pricing", which is a standard practice used in this industry. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />None. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />Miscellaneous electrical materials are budgeted under the normal operating expenses in each department. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />None. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends award of contract to Graybar Electric for miscellaneous electrical material.
