CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF JUNE 17, 1997 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />APPROVAL: Gra�e�i'e'f5iarmon, A i g City Manager <br />FROM: C!a'vZamor�� <br />Community Dev t Director <br />SUBJECT: Approval of an application for a permit to allow alcohol <br />consumption at officially sanctioned public event -- <br />"Discover Colton Night" on June 18, 1997. <br />DATE: June 10, 1997 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />At a Special Meeting on October 10, 1995, the Council considered and adopted <br />Ordinance Number 0-16-95, an Ordinance pertaining to the consumption of alcohol at <br />officially sanctioned public events. The Ordinance became effective November 9, <br />1995. <br />DISCUSSIONIANALYSIS: <br />The Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the second annual "Discover Colton Night" at <br />the Colton Community Center on June 18, 1997. Consistent with Ordinance Number <br />0-16-95, the Council must approve this application for a permit to hold an officially <br />sanctioned special event at which alcohol will be served. <br />ALTERNATIVES: <br />Not to approve the request, therefore not allowing the consumption of alcohol at the <br />event. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Approval of the permit will not create a financial impact upon the City. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends approval of the permit request to allow alcohol consumption at the <br />officially sanctioned public event on June 18, 1997. <br />D RZ/kd <br />Item No. 19 <br />
