R -97 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF COLTON RELATING TO CITY <br />EMPLOYEE TRAVEL POLICY <br />WHEREAS, the financial situation in the City of Colton has been and continues to be <br />uncertain; and <br />WHEREAS, individuals currently employed by the City as well as those seeking <br />employment within the City sometimes need to attend educational and business development <br />meetings and conferences outside the City; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council believes that the economic vitality of this community is <br />of the utmost importance and that stability and security among City employees contributes <br />significantly to that vitality; and <br />WHEREAS, until such time as the audit for the 1995-96 fiscal year is completed and <br />until a comprehensive analysis of expenditures and revenues for 1996-97 are made available to <br />the City Council, it is imperative that strict controls be imposed and maintained with regard to <br />travel by City employees on City business. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON HEREBY <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1. Any request for travel time and expenses outside the City on City related <br />business or for educational purposes must be approved in advance by the City Council. <br />SECTION 3. This travel policy shall remain in effect until further action of the City <br />Council taken in the form of adoption of a resolution which by its express terms specifically <br />rescinds the policy imposed by this Resolution.
