Vega, Finance Director <br />SUBJECT: Approve and Adopt Information Systems Administrative Policy <br />DATE: March 23, 1998 <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />Information Systems Administrative Policy is established to serve as guidelines for the use of <br />computer resources and the Internet for individuals authorized by the City of Colton, and to raise <br />the awareness of the employees in the City. <br />As part of the policy, the Information Systems staff is responsible for the integrity and backup of <br />data on the network servers, security administration, and overseeing and maintaining City -owned <br />computer systems. <br />Under the new policy, the City Manager will approve all uses to ensure compliance with the <br />City's purposes. The Information Systems Division must review any new software and/or <br />hardware before purchase and/or installation by any department. This will ensure system <br />compatibility throughout the City. As the result, it will increase the effectiveness in the transfer <br />and exchange of data. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />None <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />That City Council approves the Administrative Policy number 4.04.130, Information Systems <br />Policy: <br />Item # 14 <br />
