CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For the Council Meeting of August 18, 1998
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
APPROVAL: HENRY T. GARCIA, CIN MANAGE
FROM: THOMAS K. CLARKE, UTILITY DIRE
SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF JAMISON ENGINEERING TO PERFORM EQUIPMENT
MAINTENANCE SERVICES AT THE WASTEWATER TREATMENT
PLANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $251000
DATE: AUGUST 3, 1998
BACKGROUND:
Through the Cease and Desist Order #95-36, the Regional Water Quality Control
Board has required the Wastewater Treatment Plant staffing to include two Wastewater
Mechanics. One of the Wastewater Mechanics recently resigned, and the other is on
extended family leave. The Wastewater Mechanic positions are needed for the equipment repairs at the
Wastewater Treatment Plant. In order to assure the equipment is being maintained, a
new contract for services provided by Jamison Engineering needs to be approved.
Funds to pay for the contract services will be transferred from salary savings resulting
from the vacant position.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Staff is requesting funds in the amount of $25,000 be transferred from the Wastewater
Salaries Account #522-8200-8200-1010 to the Wastewater Professional Services
Account #522-8200-8200-2350 to pay for the contract services with Jamison
Engineering.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that Council approve Jamison Engineering as the interim
Wastewater Treatment Plant's mechanics in the amount of $25,000.
Report Prepared By: Lorraine June
Item # 10
