HUTTON, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTO SUBJECT: FINAL ACCEPTANCE/NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE CFD 89-1 COOLEY DRIVE AND WASHINGTON STREET LANDSCAPE MEDIANS PROJECT DATE: NOVEMBER 5, 1998 BACKGROUND: Per City Council approval on April 7, 1998, the contract for this project was awarded to Sean Malek Engineering & Construction, Inc., in the amount of $45,841.00. The Contractor has completed the project, and the final punch list has been completed and approved. A one year Guarantee on the Project has been signed & submitted by Sean Malek Enginnering & Construction. The Stamped Concrete portion of this project has been completed by City Forces. DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: Prior to completion of the contract, there were problems encountered in the field for the Washington Street portion of the project: additional trenchwork and 2 additional valves were required. This portion of the work was performed by City Forces as it was not a part of the original contract and there were no additional monies available from the CFD 89-1 funding source. In addition, City Forces have contracted to have a Booster Pump installed to combat a water pressure problem which is affecting both of the large medians on Washington Street. The pump is scheduled to be installed the week of November 10, 1998; portions of the sod area which were damaged as a result of the water pressure problem have been re -seeded. FINANCIAL IMPACT: This project is funded by CFD 8-1 Assessment District funds. The total amount of the contract awatded to Sean Malek Construction & Engineering, Inc. is $45,841.00. There were no change orders for this portion of the Contract. RECOMMENDATION: ■ Staff recommends final acceptance of the CFD 89-1 Cooley Drive & Washington Street Landscape Medians Project in the amount of $45,841. Staff further recommends that City Council authorize finalizing a Notice of Completion for the portion of the project performed by Sean Malek Construction & Engineering, Inc. ■ Staff recommends that Council approve the execution and recordation of this document. jch/dst Page 1 of 1 Item NO. 2
