CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF JUNE 16, 1998
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Coun
APPROVAL: Henry Garcia, City Manager
FROM: Dennis Morris, Human Resource Director A"
SUBJECT: Amendment to Resolution #R-26-98, Adopting Certain full-time
Classifications and Setting Basic Compensation Rates for FY 98/99
DATE: June 8,1998
BACKGROUND: In March of this year, the City approved a classification study conducted by
L.B. Hayhurst and Associates, a professional services consultant.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: The Consultant recommended new classifications for certain positions
which subsequently necessitated further study of these positions. The affected positions are (1) Accounting Technician I to Purchasing
Assistant, (1) Meter Reader to Senior Meter Reader, (1) Consumer Services Field Representative to
Senior Consumer Services Field Representative and changing the position of Utility Worker to
Warehouse Supervisor. In addition, the Finance Director, with the City Manager's approval, asked
Personnel to study the position of Finance Assistant in the Finance Department.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: $17,825 which represents salary and benefits adjustment totals to be
included with the new FY 1998/99 budget, if approved.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Mayor and City Council approve and adopt the amendment
to Resolution #R-26-98 establishing certain job titles and applicable salaries effective with the new
fiscal year which commences July 1, 1998.
ATTACHMENTS: Amendment to Resolution #R-26-98.
REPORT PREPARED BY: Terri Truitt
WDATA\AGENDA\AGENDATr.DOC Item # 15
