CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 15, 1998 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />APPROVAL: Henry Garcia, City Manage, <br />FROM: Dennis Morris, Human Resource Director, .)N <br />SUBJECT: Request Approval to Amend City of Colton's Municipal Code Section <br />2.48.050 <br />DATE: September 8, 1998 <br />BACKGROUND: The City of Colton's Municipal Code Section 2.48.050, exceptions from Civil <br />Service Provisions, designate that certain categories of City workers do not fall within the purviews of <br />Civil Service; department heads are one of those categories. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: Amending Municipal Code Section 2.48.050, will place all department <br />heads and other executive management positions under Civil Service and provide executive employees <br />a feeling of more stability and control in making decisions which affects their respective departments. <br />It will also enhance the City's potential in enticing even more qualified candidates during recruitments <br />for executive positions.
