Each employee will be offered a choice of a gold lapel pin with the new City
Logo or a selection of an item from a catalog designed for the City's program.
ANALYSIS
The Purchasing Division could only locate two vendors that provide a customized program like
this. One of the vendors, Nelson Marketing, is located in Wisconsin and they recommended
that we implement our program through a vendor in the Southern California area to ensure
better customer service with return items, warranties, etc. The other vendor is O.C. Tanner
Recognition Company which is located in the City of Orange. Staff is recommending that the
City enter into a two-year contract with O.C. Tanner Recognition Company.
ALTERNATIVES
None
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The Council approved a budget of $30,000 ($15,000 per year) for this program for FY 99/00
and FY 00/01. These funds are budgeted in account number 100-6030-6030-2400.
The cost of the program for the first year is going to be approximately $36,000. The
additional funding required will be transferred from funds budgeted in other accounts for fiscal
year 1999-2000. The budget transfer will be based upon each department's pro -rata share of
employees receiving awards.
