HUTTON, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: REQUEST TO SUBMIT PLAN MODIFICATION (FOR THE PREVIOUSLY APPROVED 1999-2000 <br />CDBG PROJECT #104-25105 LAUREL, MILLER, Pi, 10T", BOARDWELL & CANAL, DISTRICT <br />2) TO THE DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT (ECD). <br />PROPOSED PLAN MODIFICATION WILL RELOCATE THE SITE TO PENN LN, FUR ST., <br />MONROE ST, WALTERS ST., VERMONT ST., AND THE ORIGINAL MILLER DR., DISTRICT 2, <br />DATE: NOVEMBER 22,1999 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />City Council has previously approved the use of $136,226 in Community Development Block Grant funds for the <br />CDBG Project #104-25105 which is comprised of street rehabilitation for the following streets: <br />• Laurel Avenue <br />From eh Street to La Cadena <br />• Miller Avenue <br />From Laurel Avenue to the north end <br />• 9th Street <br />From Laurel Avenue to Canal Road <br />• 10th Street <br />From Laurel Avenue to Canal Road <br />• Bordwell Avenue <br />From Laurel/La Cadena intersection to Canal Road <br />• Canal Road ' <br />From 9th Street to Bordwell Avenue <br />Due to recent and ongoing projects involving both Water & Sewer replacements all of the streets listed above <br />(Except Miller Drive and Laurel Avenue) have been, or will soon be, rehabilitated. Laurel Avenue is a part of the <br />1999-2000 Pavement Rehabilitation Project which is currently under construction. <br />DISCUSSIONIANALYSIS: <br />Public Works would like to reassign the previous rehabilitation CDBG funding to a location which has been on the <br />waiting list for some time. The area noted below has been chosen because the square footage (and therefore the <br />cost of the project) is relatively equal to the originally approved locations. <br />• Penn Lane <br />From Mill Street to Fur Street <br />• Fur Street <br />From Monroe Street to Vermont Street <br />• Monroe Street <br />From Fur Street to Vermont Street <br />• Walters Street <br />From the west end to Vermont Street <br />and retain the original <br />• Miller Street From Laurel Avenue to the north end. <br />In conjunction with the proposed rehabilitation project, City Forces will be installing HCP Ramps where needed. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />None. The CDBG funding amount of $136,226 has already been allocated by City Council for the previous project. <br />A Plan Modification has been prepared for the Department of Economic and Community Development (ECD) and <br />will be submitted upon approval of the City Council <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff requests Council Authorization to submit the Plan Modification to the Department of Economic & Community <br />Development for their approval <br />jchldst <br />Page 1 of 1 item #14 <br />
